Screen Gems: Chopard’s Cannes Film Festival Collection

Chopard’s long-standing partnership with the Cannes Film Festival began over 25 years ago when Chopard President Caroline Scheufele redesigned the prestigious Palme d’Or trophy. Since then, the two creative forces have enjoyed a mutually fulfilling relationship, with the arts of high jewellery and cinema intertwining in beautiful harmony.

“I’m a passionate film-lover, and Chopard’s long-term relationship with the Cannes Film Festival is very close to my heart,” Scheufele says. Each year, the designer presents her Red Carpet Collection, featuring the places and themes that inspire her.

For the Cannes Film Festival 2023 edition, the theme of her exquisite high jewellery collection was “art,” revolving around the Seven Arts of architecture, sculpture, painting, music, literature, dance, and cinema. Scheufele unveiled 76 exquisite pieces taking inspiration from the diversity of global art.

“One of the things I love the most about my journeys is that I can experience diverse cultures and discover many forms of art,” she says.

One of this year’s most remarkable pieces, and the designer’s personal favourite, is the Sculpture Ring, which she describes as “a miniature masterpiece you can actually wear on the hand.”

Requiring over 400 hours of meticulous craftsmanship, the spectacular creation, which pays tribute to the art of sculpture, showcases a majestic yellow sapphire supported by a cluster of antique-style gold sculptures on a diamond-set shank.

“The magic of Cannes happens because it’s the place where, for a few weeks, different kinds of creativity meet, whether it’s film, jewellery, design or fashion—and beautiful stories come to life,” Scheufele says.

“Our Red Carpet Collection celebrates the brilliant actors and celebrities who walk red carpets around the world, and Cannes is the most prestigious of all.”
