A Conversation with Real Estate Developer Frank Mazzotta
Over the past thirty years, real estate developer Frank Mazzotta has turned his family-run real company, Armour Heights Developments, into one of the most respected firms in Toronto. He specializes in made-to-measure homes and bespoke properties that challenge the glass skyscraper aesthetic dominating his hometown skyline.
A prime example is the newly completed 89 Avenue Yorkville, a classically designed residential condominium that brings a new level of luxury to an already luxurious neighbourhood.
A family affair
Mazzotta grew up working on construction sites with his father, so it makes sense that when launching his own company and starting his own family he naturally brought them all together under one roof. “I’ve been working alongside my family since the inception of Armour Heights Developments,” Mazzotta says.
“My wife Marisa is the accounts director, my son Lucio is currently operating one of our upcoming projects called The Hill on Bayview in Richmond Hill, and my younger son Michael is managing and operating our luxury residence in Yorkville at 89 Avenue Road.”
Singular mission
Always raising the bar for quality, beauty, and exclusivity, Mazzotta is not resting on his laurels. “I founded Armour Heights Developments in 1988 with a singular mission—to design and develop top-tier residential and commercial properties in the GTA.”
With each project, he tries to take that mission one step further. He won’t think twice about travelling to New York to source a specific limestone or to visit parking lots around the world to find technologies and designs he can incorporate into his own developments. For Mazzotta, sourcing the best materials and products is key to creating something that will stand the test of time.
Classical meets contemporary
Mazzotta’s buildings capture a timeless sense of beauty through their architecture and design. “We use artisans who apply their traditional techniques within modernized buildings. The integration is seamless. I specifically sought out people such as Richard Wengle, who has successfully integrated post-war architecture with cutting-edge technological advancements to deliver unique products.”
