There is an intoxicating alchemy in the way a single scent can unlock the memory of a rain-slicked courtyard or the warmth of dusk in a distant province. Travel has always been the beating heart of Louis Vuitton, and today that wandering spirit finds its most intimate expression in fragrance. Following electrifying journeys through the sun-bleached coasts of California and the opulent souks of the Middle East, the House now turns its compass toward China.
Composed by Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud alongside his daughter Camille Cavallier Belletrud, the trio of new creations—Tea Storm, Ink Mark, and Moon Tale—is a love letter to the multifaceted cultural landscape of traditional China.
“China boasts an utterly unique tradition of beauty,” Belletrud observes. “Fragrance is everywhere, from its cuisine to its herbal teas and art de vivre. I wanted to capture this richness in a flowing olfactory language, free of clichés.”

The collection opens with Tea Storm, an invigorating ode to the rituals of the leaf. In China, tea is rarely just a beverage; it is an entire cosmology. The fragrance evokes an outdoor ceremony swept by mountain weather, pairing zesty lemongrass and rare magnolia essence with a comforting heart accord warmed by subtle undertones of honey and sun-dried hay. It is restorative, crisp, and atmospheric.

From the quietude of the mountains, Ink Mark plunges into the electric verticality of modern Shanghai, taking the ancient, meditative art of calligraphy as its muse. The scent captures the damp, grounding aroma of fresh ink meeting parchment through a sophisticated tension: warm, enveloping amber notes contrasted with creamy sandalwood and a mineral white incense distilled in Grasse by a notoriously complex, slow-hand process that grants the perfume extraordinary sillage.

Rounding out the trio is Moon Tale, a luminous, powdery reverie inspired by the legendary Four Great Beauties of ancient Chinese history. Steeped in ritual, it summons the tactile memory of vintage cosmetics, delicate rice powder, and velvety rouge, via a lively opening of fresh raspberry. That initial brightness softens into a lush floral heart, anchored at last by a clean, skin-warmed musk.

True to the maison’s obsessive attention to detail, the packaging is an artifact in its own right. Designed by industrial designer Marc Newson, the signature flacons are direct descendants of 18th-century Chinese snuff bottles and antique apothecary flasks.
Cast in shimmering opalescent glass, the bottles are capped with rich, tactile stoppers carved from genuine jade, quartz, and mother-of-pearl. Each is housed in a pleated Monogram Ébène satin travel pouch, secured by a hand-tied leather Chinese peace knot—an ancient emblem of protection meant to guard the traveller wherever the road, or the memory, might lead.
