Inside Fendi’s State-of-the-Art Italian Factory
“Italy is synonymous with tradition, history, beauty and, above all, excellence.”
It’s a place where creativity melds seamlessly with nature—a space where iconic products like the Peekaboo, Mon Tresor, and the Baguette are crafted while olive groves stand sentry. It’s Fendi’s new, 30,000-square-metre factory near Florence.
Set within eight hectares in Capannuccia, Tuscany, the factory is a labour of love that pays homage to Fendi’s beauty ethos and Italian traditions. Artfully blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, the factory offers artisans glass-walled workspaces with views of manicured courtyards rife with fig and pomegranate trees.
“Natural light is so important for the sight of artisans, who day after day carefully and meticulously cut, stitch, and create the products,” says Silvia Venturini Fendi, the company’s artistic director of accessories and menswear.
A rooftop canteen overlooking olive groves, spontaneous woodland areas, and gardens offers respite for both body and soul. The space is as bespoke, thoughtful, and elegant as the pieces crafted there.
Not simply a workplace where artisans display their creative talents, the factory is also dedicated to unparalleled efficiency and is slated to reach the prestigious LEED Platinum certification—a widely used green building rating system—by 2023.
