From sailing to riding to golf, it’s a known fact that Gabrielle Chanel was a keen sportswoman. Ahead of her time in recognizing the importance of comfort and movement in women’s clothing, Chanel designed her iconic effortless silhouettes, which led to the creation of the CHANEL “Sport” atelier in 1921.

This legacy of freedom and body awareness has always permeated CHANEL creations and is emerging once again for 2024 with a new jewellery collection that captures Gabrielle’s adventurous spirit. Designed by Patrice Leguéreau, director of the CHANEL Jewellery Creation Studio, the Haute Joaillerie Sport collection brings a performance edge to the brand’s inherent elegance, emphasizing the fluidity and allure of a woman’s movement.

Much like sportswear silhouettes, the streamlined jewellery designs follow the anatomical contours of the body. Chevron motifs evoke rhythm and speed, while clean, smooth contours and tapered volumes add dynamic energy. The collection revisits Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite symbols in a sporty context, incorporating the number five in chronometer typography, a lion set in a coat of arms, and a star symbolizing victory.
