Treasured Legacies: Le Patrimoine de CHANEL Collection

The No. 18 townhouse at Place Vendôme has long been one of the landmarks of CHANEL’s legendary heritage in Paris. Today, it houses a trove of treasures to be discovered at the Patrimoine de CHANEL collection.

Over the years, CHANEL has generously contributed historic pieces from its collections to exhibitions across the globe. The Patrimoine collection at Place Vendôme embodies this philosophy, showcasing the character and savoir-faire of the brand’s unique jewellery creations from 1932 to the present.

In 1997, CHANEL acquired the famed 19th-century high society townhouse and converted it into jewellery and watchmaking studios and ateliers. Recently, an extensive renovation by architect Peter Marino transformed the house into a three-story boutique, lending a sleek contemporary edge to the historical building.

The storefront reopened its doors in 2022, ninety years after the original release of Bijoux de Diamants, the only high jewellery collection created by Gabrielle Chanel herself.

Thoughtful details throughout recreate Mademoiselle Chanel’s life and vision. A classically CHANEL palette of black, white, beige, and gold lays the groundwork for a luxe yet intimate interior that’s as timeless as the brand itself.

At the entrance, a vestibule with see-through walls creates a playful labyrinth effect. High jewellery pieces glitter behind the glass walls, creating an intriguing depth that extends into the distance.

Notable furnishing and art pieces are present throughout the space. The first floor is devoted to CHANEL’s fine timepieces, the second level to its jewels. There, materializing behind mirrored panels, is one of the collection’s most notable gems: the N°5 necklace, boasting a 55.55-carat custom-cut diamond. Another remarkable piece, the Signature de Perles cuff, is also on display.
