The enduring connection between CHANEL and the world of ballet enters a new chapter through the Maison’s latest collaboration with the Paris Opera—a relationship that began in 2018 with CHANEL as a Major Patron.

This season, CHANEL’s ateliers join creative forces with the Paris Opera’s costume workshops to design the stage outfits for Red Carpet, a sensational new ballet by world-renowned choreographer Hofesh Shechter. Premiering at the historic Palais Garnier on June 10, 2025, the production featured dancers from the Paris Opera Ballet, with whom Shechter has previously collaborated.
Red Carpet transforms the stage into a fantastical cabaret setting—an immersive, shadowy café-theater pulsating with live music and the raw energy of thirteen dancers. Inspired by the drama of evening wear, CHANEL has crafted thirteen distinct costumes that accentuate the dancers’ grounded, expressive movement. Tuxedos, sculpted cocktail jackets, and glittering floor-sweeping gowns appear in lush materials like lamé, bouclé, sequins, and signature CHANEL embroidery. Subtle homages to the Maison’s heritage are woven throughout: a pink bouclé tuxedo nods to CHANEL’s iconic tweed, blending masculine tailoring with feminine allure.
Each ensemble is completed with carefully detailed accessories—gloves, bow ties, jewelry, and the timeless CHANEL camellia—layered to create both structure and reveal. As the performance unfolds, dancers shed their outer garments to reveal fluid, draped underlayers, reflecting the evolving emotional tone of the piece.
This collaboration not only spotlights CHANEL’s artistic vision but also reaffirms its commitment to the performing arts. Red Carpet is running at the Palais Garnier from June 10 to July 14, 2025, before embarking on an international tour to San Francisco and New York in the fall, 2025.
