Dior Introduces Exclusive Skincare Line Powered by Grape Extract

The formula behind some of the world’s finest wines is also the secret to skin longevity and rejuvenation, as harnessed by Dior in its L’Or de Vie collection.

The story of Dior’s most exclusive skincare line begins at Château d’Yquem, a majestic vineyard nestled in the hills of France’s legendary Sauternes region. Once owned by European royalty, it is renowned for producing highly prized sweet wines.

Its secret? A natural phenomenon known as the ‘Golden Grape’: a process involving a type of fungus that interacts with the vineyard’s warm, humid microclimate to concentrate sugars and beneficial molecules within the grapes, resulting in a rare and powerful ingredient. Josephine d’Yquem, a key figure in the vineyard’s history, pioneered this innovative approach to viticulture, cementing the estate’s esteemed reputation. The harvesting and winemaking processes are still carried out with the utmost care—a labor-intensive practice that spans nearly three months each year to ensure only the finest grapes are selected.

The remarkable process inspired Dior to develop a skincare formulation that harnesses these qualities to promote cell turnover, skin regeneration, and anti-aging. In 2006, Dior Science began collaborating with Château d’Yquem to explore the potential of the Golden Grape. Ongoing research built on the vineyard’s discoveries to create new technological processes and active ingredients, which became the foundation for the L’Or de Vie line. This includes Gold Sap, Gold Ferment, and ultimately the Protein of Life—a protein identified as crucial for skin longevity.

The L’Or de Vie collection features five signature products for a comprehensive skincare ritual. The ‘liquid gold’ lotion purifies and hydrates the skin, while the concentrated serum lifts and enhances firmness and elasticity. The velvety La Creme is available in two versions—regular and Riche—providing nourishment and plumping. Finally, the Crème Contour Yeux eye cream targets fine lines and crow’s feet to brighten and rejuvenate the eyes. Each product is housed in a luxurious, refillable case, inspired by Dior’s Haute watchmaking. The handcrafted glass case is adorned with 19-carat gold crowns, reflecting the Yquem emblem, and features a sunray motif inside, reminiscent of the sunlight illuminating the vineyard.
