Relaxed cuts, oversized outerwear, chunky knits, and graphic prints were revealed by Nicholas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2022. Presented at the Musée d’Orsay during Paris Fashion Week, the collection was intended as an ode to adolescence and its youthful hopefulness, inspiring a better world and future.
The show opened with South Korea’s model and actress Jung Ho-Yeon, recent winner of the Screen Actors Guild for her performance in the hit show “Squid Game,” wearing wide-leg striped pants, a brown leather blazer, and yellow floral tie.
As in her award-winning role, Ho-Yeon’s combination of uniquely feminine beauty and edge of steely strength perfectly paralleled the collection, where typically masculine silhouettes met a relaxed yet unmistakably feminine sensibility.
Cue wide-leg trousers and conservative white shirts paired with ties splashed in unapologetically bright florals. Pinafore-style dresses were topped with boxy blazers and knee-high boots. Floaty chiffon hemlines emerged beneath massively oversized polo shirts. Tweed, leather, velvet, and faux fur provided cool-weather textures, while details like sneakers playfully peeking out from under pretty floor-length dresses, or a sweater tied casually around the waist, alluded to the effortlessness of youth.
Vivid, slightly hypnotic colours, photographic prints, and layered accessorizing completed looks that channel tomorrow’s generation in a nutshell—inspired, unexpected, and unwilling to be restrained by neat categories.
