With its ultra-structured silhouette and minimalistic appeal, the Dior Book Tote has all the makings of a wardrobe icon. Since its debut in 2018, the elegant handbag has undergone several interpretations, with each season’s motif embodying Dior’s avant-garde spirit and the unparalleled savoir-faire of its ateliers.
For the Spring-Summer 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection, the Dior Book Tote reemerges in a new version, flaunting the bold all-over Plan de Paris print. Taking a cue from a scarf created by Christian Dior during the 1950s, the image is masterfully embroidered using a three-dimensional technique exclusive to the brand.
The black and white threads outline the streets and legendary buildings of Paris, presented in an interplay of light and shadow. The embroidery reveals the city’s landmarks across both the exterior and the lining.
Dior’s ateliers devoted countless hours of work to crafting the bag. They reproduced the design, meticulously hand-tracing every stitch before weaving it under the watch of an expert artisan.
Another artisan then carefully examines each part of the bag before joining together the sides, interior, and handles using the traditional Italian method of cordonetto. The label “Christian Dior Paris, made in Italy” is embossed in golden ribbon on the leather interior.
