Beloved Gardens: Christian Dior Takes Inspiration from the Past
Christian Dior’s love for gardens is at the heart of the latest high jewellery collection to emerge from Victoire de Castellane, creative director of Dior Joaillerie.

Composed of over 170 pieces, the new Les Jardins de la Couture collection draws inspiration from the gardens of Dior’s childhood, delving into the couturier’s youth in Vilmorin-Andrieux, where he immersed himself in the descriptions of flowers in colour catalogues. It also revives the emotional memory of his return to land in Caillon where he sold produce at the market.

Les Jardins de la Couture builds on the narrative of Dior’s predecessors, such as Milly-la-Forêt, named after the village where the designer owned his magnificent garden. Unveiled on the lush shores of Lake Como, the new collection eloquently weaves together the designer’s past and present in a singular narrative.

The pieces, which include three secret watches, peek at some of Dior’s favorite design elements, from Granville roses and corolla skirts to brocaded petals and budding braids.
Each jewel showcases meticulous craftsmanship and novel design, highlighting an evolution of older techniques such as the brilliant spectrum of lacquer on Diorette rings and Blood Wedding necklaces while also shining the spotlight on centre stones.
Brilliant hues, intricate motifs, and precious materials intertwine to create a stunning tapestry that honours the connection between Dior’s artistic vision and his passion for flora.
