The mystical craft of alchemy and its role within perfumery has given rise to the new Gucci fragrance collection: The Alchemist’s Garden.
Master perfumer Alberto Morillas and Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele collaborated on the apothecary-style collection, which comprises seven eaux de parfum, four perfumed oils, and three acqua profumate (“scented waters”). The entire line is customizable, inviting wearers to layer and blend scents for a personalized olfactory experience.
“Gucci’s The Alchemist’s Garden is about raw materials, and each of the stories magnifies a hero ingredient: oud, amber, violet, iris, mimosa, rose and woods,” Morillas says.
To compose the fragrance profiles, pure natural essences are blended with contemporary molecules, creating a garden of transformative floral notes, labelled with evocative names like Tears Of Iris and The Last Day Of Summer.
The acque profumate feature notes of cypress, lavender, and woods, while the precious oils range from the ultra-feminine The Violet Kiss to the oud-based A Nocturnal Reverie. The starting point for the formulas, Michele says, was a violet note and other heady flower essences that evoke powerful olfactory associations.
