On September 18, Louis Vuitton staged a memorable trunk show at Toronto’s famed Roy Thomson Hall, showcasing its Women’s Fall-Winter 2024 Collection.
Both the collection and the event hold special significance for the Maison: it marks Louis Vuitton’s first-ever runway presentation in Canada and celebrates a decade of Nicolas Ghesquière’s visionary leadership as Artistic Director of Women’s Collections. Ghesquière’s tenure has been defined by his ability to blend timelessness with innovation, and the Fall-Winter 2024 collection embodies this unique fusion by combining contemporary fashion with a retrospective nod to his groundbreaking designs over the past ten years. The Fall-Winter 2024 Collection was first debuted in Paris at the Cour Carrée of the Louvre—the site of Ghesquière’s very first Louis Vuitton show, which has since become a customary show venue for the Maison.
Roy Thomson Hall provides a striking backdrop for this memorable showcase. Designed in 1976 by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, in collaboration with Mathers and Haldenby, the building has become a downtown landmark and is home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Its curvilinear structure and honeycombed glass canopy allow jewel-like light to stream into the corridors, creating a dynamic connection between the interior and the city’s urban landscape.
Louis Vuitton has deep roots in Toronto, having opened its first store on Bloor Street in 1983. Today, over 40 years later, Bloor Street remains the Maison’s largest store in Canada, with 10 locations nationwide and plans for continuing expansion, including a new storefront at Royalmount in Montreal opening later this month. The upcoming release of the Toronto City Guide, available in print and through the City Guide app, further underscores the city’s growing significance in Louis Vuitton’s global presence.
