The happy, colour-filled universe of painter Henri Matisse was the inspiring force behind the new Guerlain perfume concept, Guerlain x Maison Matisse.
Working with Maison Matisse, an institution founded by the artist’s great-grandson Jean-Matthieu Matisse, Guerlain released the L’Art & La Matière collection. Its feature piece, Jasmin Bonheur, is an exclusive new Guerlain perfume inspired by the painter’s famous 1950s masterpiece, A Thousand and One Nights.
“My great-grandfather’s works are very multi-sensory; his was a world full of plants and flowers, and they became recurring motifs in his work,” Jean-Matthieu Matisse says. “This celebration of happiness is a beautiful initiative and a first for Maison Matisse.”
Jasmin Bonheur celebrates Henri Matisse’’s vibrant use of colour. Made from natural flower essences, its fragrance notes are purple iris, apricot orange, and pink rose, all wrapped in exotic jasmine. Completing the presentation is the perfume bottle and case, resembling a painter’s canvas with hearts, flowers, and leaves embossed on the ceramic plate.
The precious fragrance comes in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces worldwide.
“We’re extremely fortunate to have Maison Matisse show its trust in us for these new creations,” says Ann-Caroline Prazan, Guerlain’s director of Art, Culture, and Heritage. “Our partnership is anchored by shared values of excellence, exacting standards, and elegance, joined by a mutual love of beauty, nature, and art.”
