In the heart of Toronto’s vibrant entertainment district, The Room by GOODEE at Ace Hotel eloquently demonstrates the transformative power of design. Conceived by twin brothers Byron and Dexter Peart, co-founders of the GOODEE marketplace, the space combines aesthetics with meaningful conversations about representation, elevation, and the preservation of heritage craftsmanship.
The Peart twins’ artistic endeavours frequently involve collaborations with architects and designers to reimagine spaces in restaurants and hotels. “Ultimately, it’s about making hospitality spaces more comfortable and creating an environment where people feel safe—like you would when you’re at home or in your office,” Byron says.
The power duo successfully transformed the suite at the Ace Hotel into a “home away from home” that beautifully incorporated the work of global artists. The reed table tops, carefully handcrafted by Colombian company Jipi, were covered in the linen tablecloths of Egyptian company Malaika, and decorated with the handblown glassware of Mexican company Xaquixe.
