The Japanese brand Aizawa Wood Works taps into a legacy of over 90 years when it comes to its intricately crafted wooden creations, made by master artisans. Aptly named Kito, Japanese for “tree,” these simply shaped wooden plates and trays aim to infuse the essence of the material into daily living.
The forms take cue from the tree itself—it takes about a century for the tree to grow thick enough in diameter to be used to manufacture serving pieces. The small zelkova wood plates, inspired by the shape of a flower, are handcrafted from a single piece of wood and finished with natural walnut oil or liquid glass coating. They make for a beautiful presentation for appetizers or cocktail nibbles and a warm addition to any holiday table.
