For over four decades, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard, has drawn inspiration from Japan’s philosophy of restraint, precision, and balance, a sensibility that resonates deeply with the Maison’s own commitment to excellence. That enduring admiration now takes form in Chopard’s latest L.U.C collection, a series of timepieces that pay tribute to Japan’s decorative traditions through the lens of Swiss haute horlogerie.

L.U.C-Collection-3

Leading the collection is the L.U.C Full Strike “Spirit of the Warrior”, a tribute to the discipline and ethos of the samurai. At its heart is Chopard’s celebrated L.U.C 08.01-L calibre, a hand-finished minute repeater that produces impeccably clear sound for unrivaled resonance.

L.U.C-Collection-4

Three L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 models follow: Enso, Samurai Last Stand, and Meditating Daruma, each limited to just eight pieces. Their dials, rendered in Grand Feu enamel by master artisans, reinterpret symbolic motifs of Japanese culture through color and form. Each watch, crafted in ethical white or rose gold, is a small-scale work of art, carrying quintessential Japanese symbols into vivid, meditative compositions.

L.U.C-Collection-5

Chopard’s long-standing relationship with urushi lacquer continues in the L.U.C XP Urushi Ukiyo-e, another eight-piece limited edition. The dial pays homage to Katsushika Hokusai, the legendary woodblock artist, depicting Mount Fuji in a lacquer tableau enriched with maki-e, an ancient technique layering urushi lacquer and gold dust for a luminous, dimensional finish.

L.U.C-Collection-6

Equally striking is the L.U.C XP Nihonto, limited to 25 pieces. Inspired by Tamahagane, the sacred steel used to forge Japanese swords, the dial is forged from damascened steel. Its wave-like moiré patterns result from the technical feat of compressing the metal into 120 to 160 layers.

L.U.C-Collection-7

The collection culminates with the L.U.C XP Sakura by Night, an ode to the ephemeral beauty of nocturnal cherry blossoms. Limited to eight pieces, the watch marries guilloché, lacquer, mother-of-pearl, and openworked gold, powered by the L.U.C 96.23-L movement adorned with traditional Fleurisanne engraving.

L.U.C-Collection-8

With this new L.U.C collection, Chopard bridges two worlds defined by reverence for craft: Japan’s devotion to beauty and serenity, and Switzerland’s pursuit of technical perfection. The result is a series of timepieces that feel less like objects and more like meditations on art itself.
