In the Milanese studio of INODA+SVEJE, one is unlikely to find the typical detritus of the industrial design process, the frenetic early sketches or tentative architectural renderings scattered across the drafting table. Instead, Kyoko Inoda and Nils Sveje begin with talking, not drawing. Before committing a single line to paper, the duo engages in what they describe as a “cloud of words,” a linguistic exploration of how an object should feel long before it takes physical form.
